Cooking xSTEAM
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. In these Kitchen Science Series kids will connect their STEAM knowledge to everyday activities and events and, as a result, deepen their understand-ing of and interest in science. We will explore chemical engineering, static electricity, enzymatic browning, geyser eruption and more all thought fun kitchen experiments like making homemade butter, browning of apples, making ice cream, etc.

Private and Group Swim Lessons
Using an enhanced swim lesson curriculum, our swim instruc-tors will provide children concentrated instruction through private and small group lessons. Private lessons or small group lessons (with a max of 3 children per group) give your child the additional attention and instruction to focus on develop-ing their swimming skills. All swim instructors will wear face shields to protect your child and themselves. For swim level descriptions, please visit heparks.org/swimming.

COVID guidelines:
- To limit the amount of patrons in the facility & on deck, only one parent/guardian is allowed on deck. Please also limit only one bag brought on deck. (Coats can be placed in locker rooms).
- Swimmers should come to facility dressed in swimsuit.
- Swimmers should be on deck 5 minutes prior to lesson start time.
- Locker rooms are available, but we are asking each family to limit the amount of time spent in locker rooms.
- Parents/guardians and swimmers must wear masks while on swim deck. Swim-mers will remove masks while in water.
o Any swimmer showing any signs of illness must remain at home. Temperature checks will be done prior to entering the pool.
- Swimmers will be distanced while along the pool wall in group lessons.
- Instructors will wear face coverings.

Begin to Swim (Currently not offered)
Parent-Tot – Turtles (6 months-3 years)
With the help of their parents, tots become comfortable in and around the water. Children will enjoy activities and games. Parents will learn techniques to help orient their children to the water and to safely supervise activities.
Tots – Baby Turtle (3-5 years) This class caters to young students who are ready for lessons without their parents. Tots will learn all of the basic skills in the water and develop independence as they become comfortable.
Swim School (4-14 years)
Level 1 – Seahorse Become more comfortable in the pool and learn to enjoy the water safely. Learn elementary skills such as water entry and front and back floats and begin to learn the arm and leg action of swimming.
Level 2 – Crab
Prerequisite: Front & back float unassisted 3 seconds. The focus of this Level is front & back glides along with alternating arm & leg action.
Level 3 – Butterfly Fish Prerequisite: Submerge head, front float 5 seconds roll over & back float 5 seconds and then return to verti-cal position. Level 3 will introduce treading water, rotary breathing and elementary backstroke.
Level 4 – Octopus Prerequisite: swim front crawl with rotary breathing & backstroke the length of the pool without touching the bottom. Also front float, tread water & back float all for 10 seconds without touching the bottom. Level 4 introduces breaststroke, butterfly and builds endurance.
Swim Academy Level 5 – Goldfish (6-14 years) Prerequisite: front crawl 25 yards, float 1 minute, backstroke 25 yards, and breast stroke 15 yards. Level 5 introduces flip turns, refine strokes and builds endurance.
Level 6 – Swordfish (6-15 years) Prerequisite: Front crawl 50 yards, float 2 minutes, backstroke 50 yards, and tread water 2 minutes. Level 6 will focus on refining strokes to swim with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.
