Pool Admission
- Children under 12 years of age will not be admitted without a guardian who is at least 18 years of age.
- Admission will be denied to anyone suspected to be under the influence of any drugs, alcohol, or exhibiting erratic behavior.
- No alcohol, nicotine, or tobacco. Enforced by denial of admission or removal from premises.
- Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines indicate that pool admission be denied to any patron with a contagious disease or any infectious condition such as ringworm, foot infections, skin lesions, carbuncles, boils, inflamed eyes, ear discharge, colds, fevers, vomiting, diarrhea or any other condition that has the appearance of being infectious. Patrons with excessive sunburn, unhealed abrasions, bunion pads, corn plasters, adhesive tape, or bandages of any kind may be denied admission into the pool in accordance with Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines. General Pool Rules
- Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their children. Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies.
- No one should swim alone.
- Only clean footwear, baby strollers, or wheelchairs are allowed in the facility.
- Aquatic facility management is responsible for public order, control, and safety. Their instructions must be followed at all times. They have the authority to implement and enforce rules.
- The pool staff has the authority to eject patrons from the water, suspend pass privileges, and notify parents and/or police for violations of pool rules.
- All persons are encouraged to take a shower before swimming.
- Clean lined bathing suits are required in the pool.
- Horseplay and running are strictly prohibited on the deck and in the locker rooms.
- Anyone suspected of tampering with lockers or patrons’ personal belongings will be subject to dismissal from the pool and subject to arrest. Vandalism, verbal abuse, swearing, disrespect of staff or rules, publicly offensive, or continuous displays of physical affection are prohibited.
- No boisterous or rough play is permitted in the water. Personal conduct within the pool facility must be such that the safety of self and others is not jeopardized.
- No alcohol, nicotine or tobacco. Expressly forbidden. Enforced by denial of admission or removal from premises.
- Cell phone usage is prohibited in locker rooms
Diving Rules
- Diving in water less than 5 feet deep is not permitted except when allowed for competitive swimming and training.
- Caution should be exercised in the use of diving facilities.
- One diver is permitted on the board at a time and only when the area is safe to dive.
- Divers are allowed only one bounce per dive.
- Gymnastic moves are not allowed.
- Divers should go straight off the end of the board and never jump or dive towards the side walls of the pool.
- Goggles may not be worn off diving board.
- Catching children off diving board is not permitted.
- Patrons should swim directly to the side wall ladder after completing a dive.
Slide Rules
- Must be a proficient swimmer and at least 48-inches tall to ride the slide.
- Slide attendant will direct patrons as to when they may go down the slide.
- Riders must be off slide for the next person to ride.
- All riders must enter and exit slide on backside, feet first only. Standing, stopping, sliding down head first, and diving from the end of the slide is strictly prohibited. Violators may be ejected from the slides and/or pool area.
- Only one rider may use the slide at a time. Chain or double riding and catching swimmers at bottom of slide is not permitted.
- Parents or guardians may not take small children down the slide.
- Running, pushing, or shoving while waiting in line will not be tolerated.
- Glasses, goggles, flotation devices, and toys are not allowed on slide.
- When riding the slide, please exit roped area immediately.
- Patrons with medical conditions included, but not limited to pregnancy, heart or back problems should not ride.
- Rider assumes all risk or injury due to misuse of slide or failure to follow rules
Swimming Rules
- Please, respect the lifeguard’s job responsibilities and do not splash, distract, or talk to a guard when they are on duty.
- Lifeguards have the authority to ask patrons to “sit out” or leave the pool area with management notification.
- When the lifeguards deliver one long whistle blast, everyone must clear the pool.
- Swimming is prohibited at outdoor swimming pools when lightning is present, including a 15-minute period after the last lightning is observed.
- There will be a 15-minute adult swim every hour, for those at least 18 years of age. Children are not permitted in the pool at this time.
- No “chicken fights,” boisterous or other rough play, except supervised water sports, are permitted.
- Patrons must not hang on ladders, lane lines, dividing lines, or the diving board.
- Patrons must not enter the pool backwards, while holding someone’s hand, or from a running jump.
- Throwing another patron in the air or into the pool is not permitted.
- Spitting, spouting water, and blowing the nose, or otherwise introducing contaminants into the aquatic facility are not permitted
Flotation / Infant Safety
- Only floatation devices certified by the United States Coast Guard are permitted for use while the patron is within arm’s length of a guardian.
- If special accommodations are needed, please see the manager.
- Masks, fins, and snorkels are not permitted.
- Small children must remain with an adult at all times.
- Strollers, carriages, and baby seats must stay next to the lounge chairs and are not permitted near the “zero depth” area or within 10 feet of the pool’s edge.
- All children that are not toilet-trained must wear tightly fitting disposable swim diapers or rubber plastic pants.
- Toys must remain only in the playground and grass area
Food & Drink
- Littering is prohibited, no outside food, drinks, or gum.
- Eating and drinking is permitted only in the concession area or under the Special Event Tent during a rental. Food should not be brought onto the pool deck.
- Glass containers and coolers are strictly prohibited.
- Smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco, and nicotine are strictly prohibited anywhere on the aquatic premises.
- No Alcohol.
- Admission denied and/or removal from premises for anyone suspected or found to be in possession of alcohol, tobacco or nicotine.
Miscellaneous
- Pool water is not suitable for drinking.
- The pool phone is for HEParks staff use only.
- Adults 18 years of age and older have first priority to lounge chairs and must keep chairs at least 10 feet away from the pool edge. Personal chairs may be brought into the facility.
- A “lost and found” is available, yet HEParks is not responsible for personal possessions that are damaged, lost or stolen from the pool deck or locker rooms.
- HEParks assumes no responsibility for stolen or damaged bikes. Please lock your bikes.
- Materials that might create hazardous conditions or interfere with efficient operation of the aquatic facility shall not be permitted in the facility or on the deck.
- HEParks reserves the right to make additions and/or alterations to these rules when deemed necessary for the health and safety of all
