Water Safety
At Hoffman Estates Park District, safety is our highest priority. Water safety is particularly important in the summer time when many of us head to the pools to cool off. We want our residents to be safe in any water, all year round. Whether you’re splashing at Seascape or at The Club at Prairie Stoneor if you’re having a picnic near one of our lakes or another body of water.
Please review and follow these tips to keep you and your children safe around water:
- Always swim with a buddy.
- Avoid water wings, wear a US Coast Guard Approved Lifejacket instead.
- Never drink water from pools, lakes, oceans or rivers.
- Learn to swim, it’s the best step toward staying safe around the water.
- Never, even for a moment, leave a child unsupervised near water.
- Stay within arm’s reach of children who cannot swim.
- Teach kids to swim by enrolling them in our swim lesson program.

Also, it’s important to know that all Hoffman Estates Park District Pools are compliant with the safety standards mandated by federal regulations for pool drains, as part of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool Safety Act. This act is named for the daughter of former Secretary of State James A. Baker III. Enacted in late 2007, the law requires that most drain systems at public and community pools be in compliance with new anti-entrapment safety standards in time for this summer’s swimming season.
