Volunteering
Join the team of volunteers who contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm to the Hoffman Estates Park District. With an abundance of programs and events, and acres of gardens and parkland, HE Parks is a great place to lend your time or talent. Whether you want to assist with a special event, coach a sports team, beautify a park or work with children, we invite you to become a valuable member of our team!
As you enter the volunteer program, we hope you are looking forward to the opportunity to learn and contribute your efforts to enhance recreational opportunities within our community. You will soon discover that the most meaningful reward in volunteering is a sense of association and accomplishment.
Volunteer Recognition
Many of our volunteers have been recognized as a Best of Hoffman by our Park Board of Commissioners, an award presented at monthly meetings. A Volunteer of the Year is chosen from all of the Best of Hoffman candidates.
All volunteers are invited to attend Volunteer Appreciation Night at Seascape, one evening in August. The event is free, and all who are invited may bring their families, too. Our Park Board of Commissioners cooks up a barbecue dinner that is served poolside.
Volunteering in the Parks
Our Adopt-a-Park Program is a great way to play an active role in beautifying your local parks. As an adopting family or organization, you can choose to handle select park maintenance activities, including weeding/raking playgrounds, painting park structures, trash pick up, graffiti clean up, shoreline rock retrieval, planting native wildflowers in naturalized areas, visual policing and more! Find out more.
Coaching Opportunities
A coach can have a monumental impact on a child just learning to play organized sports. We have a variety of different sports in need of volunteer coaches, including basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball, hockey and figure skating. Anyone interested in coaching receives specialized training. Contact Rich Dahome, Athletic Manager at Rich Dahome. Rich can guide you to the correct appropriate program manager.
