Party in the Park Promises Fun for the Whole Family

More than 3,000 parents, children, couples, seniors, and teens will head to High Point Park (1704 Glen Lake Road) on Saturday, August 7th for a Party in the Park, hosted by the Hoffman Estates Park District. The event, now in its tenth year, will feature many popular attractions including a children’s performer, a Frisbee competition for dogs, and many fun contests and activities.

Parents will find everything they need to keep their family happy: a food & beer tent, entertainment for all ages, games and crafts for children, music and dancing. The event is open to the public from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Admission is free.

“Party in the Park is like a giant block party, but we do all the work,” said Dean Bostrom, park district executive director. “It’s a great, inexpensive way for our residents and friends to spend a summer day outdoors, just having fun.”

Dog owners are invited to enter their canine athletes Dog Frisbee Contest at 6:00 pm. Other activities include children’s games, family crafts, a petting zoo, a Baggo tournament, moonwalk, and a 24-foot climbing wall.

Organizers will also offer good old-fashioned games for the family, like Tug-of-War, potato sack races, 3-legged races, limbo and a water balloon toss. A nominal fee may apply to some activities.
Throughout the day, quench your appetite and your thirst at the food & beer tent. Then, at 8:30 pm, the evening will draw to a close with an outdoor showing of the movie “Where the Wild Things Are”!

“We’ve definitely packed a lot of excitement into a day,” said Bostrom, “but I’m sure people won’t mind going home exhausted.”
