Kindergarten Extended Care Offered at CCIA

Beginning this fall, the Hoffman Estates Park District will be providing extended care for kindergartners at Armstrong, Fairview, Lakeview and MacArthur schools. The Kinder STAR-Afternoon Enrichment program is designed to meet the needs of children who require extended care after morning kindergarten and is held at the Community Center and Ice Arena (1685 West Higgins Road).

The Kinder STAR program will help reinforce what children are learning in the classroom as well as introduce new and exciting projects. There will be a monthly theme that will correspond with a variety of activities, projects and field trips. Each theme will touch on the basic curriculum areas such as science, math, art, physical fitness, literacy, writing, spelling, letter and word recognition and social studies. Children will be able to socialize and interact with their kindergarten friends and have a safe place to relax.

Student busses will transport children from their schools to the Hoffman Estates Community Center Ice Arena. A hot lunch and healthy daily snack will be provided each day. Program is from after morning Kindergarten (11:10AM) until 6pm. Children at Thomas Jefferson and Whiteley schools can enroll in a similar program at Willow Recreation Center (3600 Lexington Drive).

The program requires a minimum of eight participants. For more information and to be put on a registration list, please contact Carolyn Ray 847-885-7500*635, or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
