Celebrities Tee Off to Benefit the Friends of HE Parks
On Tuesday, July 20, the Hoffman Estates Park District Foundation hosts its Twelfth Annual Communi-Tee & Celebri-Tee Golf Outing at Poplar Creek Country Club, 1400 Poplar Creek Drive, Hoffman Estates.
"We’re very excited to have former professional athletes joining us for the outing again," said Foundation president, Scott Triphahn. "Gene Hiser, who played for the Chicago Cubs, is on the Friends of HE Parks Board of Trustees and is recruiting numerous former professional athletes to join us for the event. It’s great to see these celebrities getting involved in such a good cause."
Golfers will get to spend the day with former baseball players like Bill Campbell and Paul Popovich from the Cubs, Billy Pierce and Eric Soderholm from the White Sox and many more former major league stars.
The day begins at 10:00AM with a driving range warm-up led by Poplar Creek Country Club’s PGA staff. The tournament kicks off at 11:00AM with a shotgun start. A light lunch and beverages will be provided on the course. A cocktail hour is scheduled for 4:00PM dinner buffet will be available following the tournament, and prizes will be awarded to the team with the low gross score.
There is a $125 fee per golfer, which includes golf, cocktail hour and all meals. Those interested should register by July 10, 2009. A special registration form is available at all Hoffman Estates Park District facilities and online at www.heparks.org.
There are also numerous sponsorship opportunities for local businesses to help out this worthy cause. Sponsors are welcome to distribute materials and information from their designated area on the course. ”This event is a great way for businesses in the community to give something back to the disadvantaged youth in the area”, said Triphahn.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Hoffman Estates Park District Foundation, which helps enhance the quality of life for all community members through its family recreation assistance program, park enhancement program and other special projects. The family recreation assistance program helps provide recreational opportunities to disadvantaged families in Hoffman Estates, through recreation scholarships. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible as defined by Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
